Philadelphia Flyers Sign Ducks RFA Carlsson to Five-Year Offer Sheet

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed Anaheim Ducks centre Leo Carlsson to a five-year, $90 million offer sheet.

This deal carries an AAV of $18 million, surpassing Kirill Kaprizov's $17 million AAV with the Minnesota Wild.

What happened?

The Flyers will send their next four first-round picks as compensation if Anaheim does not match the offer sheet.

The Ducks have seven days to make a decision on the offer sheet.

Why it matters for Philadelphia Flyers

Carlsson, 21, finished second in scoring with the Anaheim Ducks last season with 29 goals and 67 points in 70 games.

He added four goals and 11 points in 12 playoff games before the Ducks were eliminated in the second round.

The 6-foot-3 centre is coming off his three-year, entry-level contract.

What comes next?

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports that the deal is heavily loaded in signing bonuses.

Close to $20 million will be paid when the contract is registered with the league.

As of the current season, the Philadelphia Flyers are standing 8th in the Eastern Conference with a 43-27 record, on a W3 streak.

The team's recent performance and this new signing could impact their standings.

Carlsson has 61 goals and 141 points in 201 career games.

He represented his country at the 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025 in a third-place finish.

The Karlstad, Sweden, native also represented his country at the 2023 World Hockey Championship in a sixth-place finish.
